How to Keep your Kitten from getting pregnant?
I have 2 kittens one male and one female. As of right now neither of them are fixed.
THEY ARE SCHEDULED TO BE FIXED NEXT WEEK
however, the female cat in the past 3 days has been in constant heat and my male cat has already started trying to mount her.
We can’t get them in any sooner
Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep her from getting pregnant before she is fixed on April 6th?
Is it cruel to lock her in a room etc?
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR YOUR ANSWERS! THEY HELPED A LOT! I will definitely keep the appointment and also take turns on which one is locked up~ Thank you for all your support!

DO KEEP YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT…..SPAYING / NEUTERING…….NEXT WEEK !!!
Meantime, just let them "have their fun". Since the surgery is scheduled for NEXT WEEK, any "mating" that will have occurred will have created CELLS…..no fetuses, yet. So, the surgery can go on AS PLANNED !!
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you cancel the spaying………Your kittens will be happier & healthier, with a lower risk of developing CANCER in the future……..and your home will be less chaotic / smell better, too…….
Hope this helps…….CONGRATS on scheduling AND KEEPING this appointment. Good luck….
just keep them seperated
Put them in sepreat rooms so they cant have cat sex
It is fine, she still can be spayed. She will be in the early days of pregnancy, but the babies will have barely started to form and the vet will still go ahead and spay her. Don’t not get her spayed just because she is in the early days of pregnancy. She is probably much too young for a first litter and there are already so many cats in shelters being put down because they can’t find any homes
It is the humane thing to do.
Good luck!
Well, you could keep on in a room or you just let them be. One of my cats happened and i was waiting for both of them to get spayed and neutered and she got pregnant. I just knew but don’t say anything to the vet that is doing the surgery and it wouldn’t do anything about it and just take it out like an abortion. Just act like you know nothing. or separate them if you have two floors with the hallway if you have doors separating the first and second floors. but temporary separation might be your only answer if you can’t beg the vet to squeeze u in earlier
You need to keep them apart. It only takes a few seconds for him to mount her, you can’t take the risk. She can still be spayed even if she is pregnant, but mating is painful for cats and for her own safety she needs to be kept away from him.
It wouldn’t be cruel to confine them to one part of the house. Maybe you can rotate them so that the same cat doesn’t have to be locked up the whole time.
If kittens are further along, near full term, I personally don’t think they should be aborted, but if your cat isn’t very far along I think it’s humane to spay her regardless of whether she has an early pregnancy or not. There’s just not enough room for the cats that are already born. It’s generally not controversial and most vets would have no problem with spaying a pregnant cat as long as she wasn’t near full term.
I still think you should separate your cats though so she doesn’t get harassed or hurt by the male’s penis. It has a barb on it which tears her a little when it pulls out.
no it isnt cruel to lock her in a room. we have to do that every day with our cat shell just fall asleep and just relax she wont care.
Keep the separated, there’s nothing else you can do.
The same thing happened to me and my cats. We had two boys, two girls and he week before the surgeries, the boys decided they’d at least get one shot in, right? Well, we decided to keep them locked in separate rooms. Girls in the bathroom (with a litter box and food) and boys out and about. Then we’d switch every few hours. It’s much easier on the cats in the long run. Don’t let them mate, not only could the cat get pregnant, but it is a noisy and painful affair.
