How to tell if a cat is pregnant?
A mother cat and her kittens were dumped off by some negligent owner at my apartment complex. I picked them up and took them into my apartment. I successfully found homes for the kittens, and I decided to keep the mother cat. She was very thin when I got her. She is now rounder in the belly. I want to have her spayed. However, if she is pregnant with another litter, I do not want to end up killing any kittens. How can I tell if she is pregnant or just getting fatter?

I would wait another month, and i dont think females are supposed to get spayed right after birth. It could very well be that she is prego and thats why they dumped her off. The owners might have known that when cats have sex it is 99.9% that she is going to get pregnant because it locks into her. Cats are only preg for 6 weeks, so if you dont want to kill any kittens and pay the vet money just to tell you shes preg than i would wait.
Take her to the vet and ask her to do a scan to see if there a babies.
A CAT-scan. Lol.
take her to the vets
I’d schedule a spay for her, and ASAP. If she’s pregnant, the outlook for the babies is grim. She would have gotten pregnant while nursing the current litter, which means her body really can’t provide the nutrition a developing fetus needs. Kittens born to cats who were nursing moms when the got pregnat – even those with proper care! – are really at risk. The kindest thing for everyone would be to just get her spayed.
