How will my wife get pregnant again after undergoing tubal ligation surgery?
My wife has decided to undergo a tubal ligation surgery to stop her from having a baby. She has had that operation seven years ago. However, now we decided to have another baby, therefore I am trying to seek any professional advice to see if there is any possibility for my wife and I to have one more baby. Please someone out there help me with any tips or suggestions that will enable us to have another baby again.

You need to see a doctor – you have 2 medical possibilities – to have her tubes surgically untied (not all women have sufficient tube left for this option and some are not good candidates) or to go through IVF which is where they put your wife on medications to over stimulate her ovaries, remove the eggs, fertilize them in the lab and put them back completely skipping over her tied tubes. Both are expensive and a doctor should decide which (if any) option is better for you and your wife.
Good luck!
Well Sir, not to sound rude, but maybe you should just set up a consultation with your doctor. I don’t think many people have had this experience. You’re doctor will know right away what you can or can not do, and the best thing to do is to get one medical professional in on this very delicate matter from the get go.
I hope things pan out for you and your wife
Hi Josh,
There are options and your wife can have a baby naturally after a tubal ligation has been performed. The options are IVF and tubal reversal surgery. The Tubal Reversal Pregnancy Report 2009 will give you the chances of pregnancy. This is the largest study to date and was produced by Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. The cost with the leading center for surgery is about $7000 and the payment options are available on the website.
Yes it does matter what the age is at reversal and the type of ligation that was performed. With a repair rate of 98% there are very few cases that are non-repairable.
I wish you and your spouse the best of luck..
There are two options for women who have had a previous tubal ligation and now desire to have more children: 1) tubal reversal surgery or, 2) in vitro fertilization (IVF). Tubal reversal surgery is in most cases the most successful and most cost-effective option for pregnancy after sterilization. With pregnancy rates averaging 75% and a cost as low as $5400, tubal reversal surgery is usually more desirable than IVF, with an average pregnancy rate of approximately 27% and costs exceeding $10,000 per IVF cycle.
Not everyone is a candidate for tubal reversal, but this option should be explored first. Once the tubes are repaired following the reversal, there is a chance each month for pregnancy to occur naturally. With IVF, medications must be administered by injection and a minor surgical procedure performed each time pregnancy is attempted.
