Don’t listen to the last person. any dr or ob/gyn will tell you that while brest feeding you may not have a period but are still ovulating and therefore could get pregnant. Just give it time. But honestly waiting at least 6 more months is probably better for you body because your body needs a little break.
But if your for sure ready then just bd alot.
Are you having periods again?
If so, you can assume yourself to be normally fertile again, and regular sex should result in pregnancy within the next 3-6 months or so. (The same as if you weren’t breastfeeding.
If you aren’t having periods, you aren’t ovulating yet. And until you ARE ovulating, you can’t get pregnant. If it’s very important to you to conceive as soon as possible, cutting back on nursing (especially at night) may be enough to trigger ovulation. If it doesn’t do the trick, you may have to wean completely.
Or you can wait until your body is ready to become fertile again — which may happen on its own in the next month or two, or may not happen for a couple of years. Or anything in between.
EDIT: Ashley — have you ever heard of LAM? Probably not. Because if you HAD heard of it, you would know that LAM is a HIGHLY (98%) effective method of contraception which is based on the fact that most women who are excluisvely breastfeeding are NOT fertile for quite a few months after giving birth, because they DON’T ovulate. Nature knows better than to make women fertile again immediately — preganncies too close together would (especially in less ‘civilized’ cultures, greatly reduce survival for mother, the nursling AND the new baby. Just as your cat doesn’t go into heat again immediately after having kittens, human women are also normally infertile for a while after giving birth.
Now yes, it is possible for a woman to get pregnant on her first ovulation, before ever having a period. (Which is why LAM isn’t 100% effective.) But if she doesn’t get pregnant she WILL have a period about 2 weeks later.
My sister had a daughter, was breastfeeding and got pregnant like 9 months after and still breastfeed while pregnant. Once who have a baby, they say you are very fertile. I don’t believe breastfeeding is bad while trying to conceive, but not sure…. hopes this helps
If you are having trouble becoming pregnant or you keep having miss carriages then you should check out http://pregnanncymiraclle.com. They have a book you can get on becoming pregnant within 1-2 months and how to keep it healthy. I and my Wife went through years of struggling to bear a child with no success and doctors told her she should adopt. She refused and wanted to leave something in this world that came from her. After we started following the book I swear to god after about a month and a half she tested positive and now a year later I’m here celebrating my sons first birthday and can’t be more proud of it. I’m glad to hold my son in my arms every day and wouldn’t know where I’d be if it wasn’t for him. Anyways I hope you succeed in your pregnancy and wish you the very best.
