Sleeping positions while pregnant?
I’m 15 weeks along, and it says in my what to expect book to start getting into the habit of sleeping on my side.
I’m usually a side, or stomach sleeper. I haven’t slept on my stomach since I found out I was pregnant though.
They say you shouldn’t sleep on your back either because it cuts off the circulation to your uterus.
Well lately I have been falling asleep on my side, but I wake up flat on my back. I’ve tried to keep a pillow behind me, but I’m such a wild sleeper it some how ends up on the floor.
Any suggestions?

No I think it happens to us all. I know that when I am not pregnant I sleep soundly all night long but, with each of my pregnancies I have been a wild sleeper and can not find a comfy position at night so I am always moving around.
you probably aren’t sleeping on your back long enough to matter. but you could go to the store and get a pregnant pillow. those help keep you off your back.
Preferably left side is better due to medical reasons.. you can sleep on your back till you in 3rd semester cause it may hurt baby..
so make practice to sleep on sides by the time u reach final stages u wl be pro..
sleep on your left side. your blood will flow better and you can breath better
I had the same problem as you try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs if that doesnt work try sleeping on your side with one leg straight and the other bent towards you chest.
Get a pregnancy wedge (amazon.com) it works wonders for sleeping on your side because you can lean a little on your tummy and it’s still comfortable. i discovered this morning that after my husband left for work i stole both his pillows and put them under my hip (on either side) so the lower half of my body was tilted and tricked my body into thinking i was on my side, but my back was flat so i tricked myself into thinking it was on my back. it was magical
I think that if sleeping on your back were to cause a problem you would know it because the baby can also hit one of your nerves and make you lose sensation in your back. Right now the baby might not be able to put too much weight on your back and its best to get used to side sleeping (get a pillow and keep it between your legs to give yourself some leverage) But if you land on your back right now don’t worry, eventually you’ll stop anyway. I am on my side and usually I end up thqat way when I wake up but the pillow helps keep me on my side.
